Palazzo Conte Federico, Medieval palace in central Palermo, Italy.

Palazzo Conte Federico is a palace in central Palermo built upon ancient Punic-Roman city walls, featuring a 12th-century tower and multiple decorated rooms with marble staircases. The building combines different architectural styles accumulated over centuries, with ornate furnishings and collections displayed throughout its interconnected spaces.

The Federico family acquired this residence in the 17th century from the Olivetan Fathers and have maintained ownership ever since. The underlying structure dates back to ancient times and was built upon with successive additions across medieval and later periods.

The palace displays handcrafted Sicilian ceramics and ceiling paintings throughout its rooms, reflecting the artistic tastes of the family who have lived here for centuries. These works show how the nobility collected and valued local craftsmanship as part of their daily surroundings.

The family members who live here lead visitors personally through the rooms and share stories about the house and its collections. Visitors can enjoy refreshments in one of the decorated rooms while exploring at a leisurely pace.

A piano in the dance hall was played by composer Richard Wagner during his visit in 1882 and has remained part of the original furnishings ever since. This instrument stands as a tangible connection to a famous artist who passed through Palermo during his later years.
