The library occupies a former Jesuit college from 1586, featuring a double-order loggia courtyard and stone balustrades across three floors.
Established in 1782 during Ferdinand I's reign, the institution transformed from a royal school to a state library before transferring to Regione Siciliana in 1977.
The collection includes one million volumes, with texts dating from the 10th century, extensive Arabic literature, and documents about Saint Rosalia of Palermo.
Located at Via Vittorio Emanuele 429, the library opens Monday through Thursday from 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM and Friday from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM.
The library contains specialized collections about the Immaculate Conception, including original theological tracts, artworks, and religious manuscripts from various periods.
