Basilica di Santa Trofimena

Basilica di Santa Trofimena is a minor basilica and former cathedral located in Minori facing the sea in Campania. Inside, three naves are divided by pillars covered with colorful marble, and four chapels line each side of the interior.

The neoclassical structure began construction in 1747, replacing an older church that originated in the early medieval period. This rebuilding transformed the medieval edifice into the classical style visible to visitors today.

The basilica holds the relics of Saint Trofimena in a marble urn within the apse, accompanied by a carved bas-relief showing the sleeping martyr. This shrine draws pilgrims who venerate the saint, whose devotion runs deep in this coastal community.

The basilica sits in central Minori and is easily reached on foot from the beach and town center. The interior is open to visitors who can explore the chapels and observe the architectural details at their own pace.

The building features a sundial on its exterior and houses an altarpiece of the Crucifixion by Marco Pino da Siena from the 16th century. This artwork often goes unnoticed despite being a significant example of the church's artistic decoration.
