Palazzo di Giustizia, building in Trieste, Italy
The Palazzo di Giustizia is a large courthouse in the city center of Trieste, featuring solid stone facades and tall windows. The interior has wide corridors, high ceilings, and multiple courtrooms where trials and official proceedings take place.
Construction began in the early 1900s, and the building opened in 1929 as a new judicial administration center for the city. During World War II it was requisitioned by Nazi forces, but returned to its court functions after the war.
The name refers to its role as the seat of justice in the city. It is used daily by lawyers, judges, and citizens attending to legal matters, shaping how the community views law and fairness.
The building is easy to reach from different parts of the city and features clear signage for navigation inside. Security checks are part of the visit, and staff are accustomed to guiding those attending court matters or seeking information.
Six statues of famous Roman jurists like Ulpian and Papinian, each over 3 meters tall, stand on the terrace above the main entrance. The building has been used as a filming location for Italian television productions, notably in the series 'Un giorno in pretura'.
