San Giovanni Battista, Minor basilica in Lonato del Garda, Italy
The basilica features a Baroque facade with columns adorned by statues of Saint Catherine of Alexandria and Saint Barbara, topped by a golden statue.
After the destruction of the original Saint Zeno parish church in 1339, the community constructed a new church dedicated to Saint John the Baptist.
The basilica contains thirteen side altars decorated with Venetian artworks, including the notable painting 'Preaching of Saint John the Baptist' by Giambettino Cignaroli.
The basilica functions as the main Catholic worship site of Lonato del Garda, offering regular religious services and community gatherings throughout the year.
The eight-sail dome dominates the architectural complex, while the marble floor combines white and red Verona stone patterns installed during 1979 renovations.
