Casa del Podestà, Medieval museum in Lonato del Garda, Italy
The Casa del Podestà features twenty furnished rooms displaying collections of art, furniture, and historical artifacts from different periods of Italian history.
Built in the 15th century as a governmental seat, the building underwent restoration in the early 20th century under the direction of Senator Ugo Da Como.
The museum contains a library of over 50,000 ancient books and illuminated manuscripts, representing centuries of Italian literary and academic achievements.
Visitors can access the museum daily from 10:00 to 12:00 and 14:30 to 18:00, with combined tickets available for both the house-museum and Rocca castle.
The walls of Casa del Podestà display Renaissance frescoes by painter Romanino, depicting both religious themes and scenes from daily life of the period.
