Abe Great Falls

The Abe Great Falls reaches 80 meters in height and 4 meters in width, with water flowing down through multiple levels of rocky formations.

The Japanese Ministry of Environment recognized the natural formation by including it in the official listing of Japan's Top 100 Waterfalls in 1990.

Local residents refer to this natural formation by three names: Abe-no-Otaki, Suruga-no-Otaki, and Otome-no-taki, each reflecting regional linguistic traditions.

Visitors can reach the falls through a 4-kilometer hiking trail that includes suspension bridges and takes approximately two hours to complete round trip.

The waterfall sits near Umegashima onsen resort, allowing travelers to combine waterfall viewing with traditional hot spring bathing experiences.
