Habikino

Habikino extends across 26.45 square kilometers of the Kawachi Plain, surrounded by the Ikoma, Kongo, and Katsuragi Mountains at 34 degrees north latitude.

The city formed on January 15, 1959, from the merger of Furuichi with neighboring villages, previously known as Minami-Osaka Town since September 1956.

The Mozu-Furuichi Kofun Group contains numerous ancient burial mounds, including Japan's largest tumulus, the Ojin-tenno-ryo Kofun, registered as World Heritage.

Visitors can access multiple wineries, including Kawachi Wine and Asuka Wine, where they can taste local products and participate in grape harvesting activities.

The city maintains 13 public elementary schools, five middle schools, and houses the Osaka Prefecture University Habikino Campus within its boundaries.
