Chikusei, Municipality in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan
Chikusei extends across 205 square kilometers of predominantly flat terrain, with the Kinugawa and Kokaigawa rivers flowing through its territory.
The establishment of Chikusei occurred on March 28, 2005, through the consolidation of Shimodate City and three neighboring towns: Sekijo, Akeno, and Kyowa.
The Shimodate Gion Festival represents one of the main cultural celebrations in the city, drawing participants from across the northern Kanto region.
The city connects to major urban centers through the JR Mito Line, Kanto Railway Joso Line, and National Highway Routes 50 and 294.
The northern section of Chikusei features a 200-meter-high hilly zone that forms part of the Abukuma Mountain Range, contrasting with the southern agricultural plains.
