Matsudo Station, Railway interchange station in Matsudo, Japan
Matsudo Station is a railway interchange in the city of Matsudo, Chiba Prefecture, where JR East and Shin-Keisei Electric Railway lines meet. Four island platforms with eight tracks allow transfers between regional trains, express services to Tokyo, and local transit lines.
The station opened on December 25, 1896, as part of the Nippon Railway Tsuchiura Line and came under Japanese Government Railways in 1906. It has since connected the region with the capital and serves as a key stop on routes heading north and northeast.
The station area connects travelers to Seitoku University and Tojogaoka Historic Park, representing educational and recreational destinations in Matsudo.
Platforms fill quickly during weekday morning and evening rush hours, so traveling earlier or later makes access easier. Signage and route information appear in Japanese and English, helping with direction between trains.
The railway segment between this station and Kita-Senju in Tokyo ranks among the most heavily traveled sections in the metropolitan area during peak hours. Riders often report very short intervals between trains, especially on inbound tracks in the morning.
