Obu, Modern city in Aichi Prefecture, Japan.
Ōbu is an administrative division on the Chita Peninsula east of Ise Bay in Aichi Prefecture. Residential areas spread between railway lines and road networks across relatively flat terrain with scattered green spaces.
The village became a larger administrative unit in 1915 after merging with several surrounding settlements. Later the area gained town status with its own governance structure.
Nine elementary schools, four junior high schools, and Shigakkan University contribute to the educational landscape of this Japanese municipality.
Railway stations along the Tokaidō Main Line connect the city with major regional hubs. National routes and expressway access points make onward travel by car straightforward.
Since June 2000, Obu participates in the World Health Organization's Alliance for Healthy Cities, promoting health initiatives across the municipality.
