Ebina spans across 26.69 square kilometers between Tokyo and Yokohama, with the Sagami River marking its eastern border and Hikiji River flowing through.

The land around Ebina served as the provincial capital of Sagami Province during the Nara period, containing the provincial temple Sagami Kokubun-ji.
