Kishiwada, Castle city in Osaka Prefecture, Japan

Located in southwestern Osaka Prefecture, Kishiwada extends from Osaka Bay to the Izumi Mountains, covering 72 square kilometers with a population of 190,000 residents.

The city became a strategic settlement in 1337 when Kusunoki Masahige appointed General Wada Haruji to govern the area called Kishi in Izumi Province.

The Danjiri Matsuri festival features teams pulling massive wooden floats through narrow streets, demonstrating traditional craftsmanship and community participation.

The Nankai Electric Railway and JR West lines connect Kishiwada to central Osaka, with multiple stations providing access to local attractions within walking distance.

The Mayuyama Kofun burial mounds from ancient times remain preserved within city limits, providing direct links to the earliest settlements in this region.
