Higashi-Narita Station, Airport railway interchange station in Narita, Japan.
Higashi-Narita is an underground interchange in Narita connecting railway lines to the international airport and local destinations. The facility has four tracks arranged across two levels below ground.
The interchange opened in May 1978 under the original name of Narita Airport Station. It received its current designation in 1991 when the airport terminal structure changed.
The station brings international travelers near the airport terminals together with commuters moving between residential areas and workplaces. As trains arrive during morning and evening hours, business travelers and visitors share the same platforms.
A covered walkway stretches 500 meters underground from the platforms to both airport terminals. Travelers should allow extra time for the walk, especially when carrying luggage.
The underground station sits deeper than most railway facilities in the region, forming a separate level beneath the airport terminals. This position required special construction techniques when laying the tracks.
