Akaike Station, Railway station in Nisshin, Japan
Akaike Station is an underground railway station in Nisshin, Japan, served by both the Tsurumai Line and the Meitetsu Toyota Line. It has two island platforms and three tracks laid out to accommodate the two separate rail operators sharing the same facility.
The station opened in 1978 as part of the city subway network run by the Nagoya Transportation Bureau. The Meitetsu Toyota Line was added in 1979, turning the stop into a shared facility between a public and a private operator.
The area around the station is mostly residential, with schools nearby that draw students in the mornings and afternoons. Locals use it as a daily connection between Nisshin and the broader Nagoya metro area.
The station is underground, so following the platform signs is the easiest way to move between the two rail lines. Ticket machines and card readers are available at the gates, and staff are on hand if you need help.
Even though both lines share the same underground station, they belong to two completely separate operators with their own fare systems. Passengers switching between them need to pay attention to which ticket or card is valid for each line.
