Annaka Station, railway station in Annaka, Gunma prefecture, Japan

Annaka Station is an above-ground railway station with two simple platforms on opposite sides of the tracks. A modest station building connects the platforms via a footbridge and provides ticket machines, a waiting area, and staff assistance for travelers.

The station opened on October 15, 1885, as part of Japan's early railway development. Following the privatization of Japan's national railway system in 1987, JR East took over management of the station.

The station bears the name of the city and serves as a natural meeting point for local residents in their daily routines. You can observe workers, students, and families using this place to move around, making it a genuine part of everyday community life.

The station sits on the Shin'etsu Main Line and is located roughly 17 kilometers from Takasaki, making it a helpful stop for regional connections. Nearby National Route 18 also allows easy access via car or bus to local facilities and services.

The station has continuously served as a connection point for over 135 years, helping generations of residents explore the surrounding mountainous landscapes and rural areas. This long history makes it a quiet witness to Japan's railway network and local development.
