Mount Rokkō, Mountain summit in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan
Mount Rokko rises 931 meters above sea level, forming the highest peak of the Rokko mountain range that extends behind the city of Kobe.
English trader Arthur H. Groom discovered the mountain area in 1895 and established the first golf course in Japan there in 1903.
The Rokko International Music Box Museum preserves mechanical musical instruments and provides workshops for visitors to create their own musical devices.
Visitors reach the mountain using the Rokko Cable Car from central Kobe or the Rokko Arima Ropeway, which connects to Arima Onsen in 12 minutes.
The Rokko Alpine Botanical Garden maintains 1,500 species of mountain plants and creates specialized environments for cold-weather vegetation.
