Manazuru Station, railway station in Manazuru, Ashigarashimo district, Kanagawa prefecture, Japan
Manazuru Station is an above-ground railway station in the coastal town of Manazuru, Kanagawa Prefecture, served by the JR East Tokaido Line. It is designed as a passing station, meaning two trains can cross each other here while one waits on a side track.
The station opened in 1920 as part of the expansion of the Tokaido Line and was set up from the start as a crossing point to manage train traffic on what was then a single-track section. It is one of several small stops that were added along the Sagami Bay coast around that time.
The name Manazuru comes from the peninsula the town sits on, giving the station a strong connection to the coastal identity of the area. Visitors often use this stop as a starting point to walk toward the small fishing port nearby.
The station is staffed and managed directly by JR East, with ground-level access to the platforms that is straightforward to navigate. Not all trains on the Tokaido Line stop here, so checking which services call at this station before traveling saves time.
Despite Manazuru being a very small town, the station has its own ticket counter staff, which is now rare for a settlement of this size in Japan. This staffed setup makes it one of the few small stops on this stretch of coast that still operates with a full service counter.
