Musashi-Kosugi Station, Railway interchange station in Nakahara Ward, Kawasaki, Japan
Musashi-Kosugi is a multi-level railway station in eastern Kawasaki consisting of two separate station complexes linked by a covered walkway. The facility serves five different rail lines across several platforms and enables transfer connections between regional and inter-city trains.
Operations began on November 1, 1927 with the Nambu and Toyoko lines as the first connections. Additional lines were added over the following decades, including the Yokosuka Line and the Shonan-Shinjuku Line, expanding the station into a key junction.
The name combines the historic Musashi Province with the local place name Kosugi, showing its roots in regional geography. Commuters and residents use the facility as a hub for daily work and travel, while the surrounding neighborhood has grown into a modern residential district.
The covered walkway connecting the two station sections is roughly 400 meters long and particularly helpful during rain or hot weather. Signage in multiple languages aids in switching between lines, though allow a few minutes for transfers on foot.
In fiscal year 2019, daily passenger counts reached approximately 129,000 travelers, showing a sharp increase from the 1999 figures. This growth reflects the rapid population increase in the surrounding area, making it one of the busiest stations in the region.
