Yokohama Stadium, Baseball stadium in Yokohama, Japan
Yokohama Stadium is a baseball venue in Yokohama, Japan, featuring a FieldTurf playing surface with outfield distances ranging from 94 to 118 meters from home plate. The facility accommodates more than 34,000 spectators and includes spaces for game operations, food services, and management offices within the main building.
Shimizu Corporation and Taisei Corporation built the facility in 1977, with the official opening taking place the following year. Since then, the stadium has served as a permanent venue for professional baseball in the Yokohama area.
The venue hosts the Yokohama DeNA BayStars, a team from the Nippon Professional Baseball League that plays its season matches here. The infield shows the typical combination of maintained turf and sandy pathways common in Japanese baseball parks.
The stadium sits in central Yokohama and is easily reached by public transport. On game days, arriving earlier is advisable as larger crowds gather near the entrances.
Michael Jackson performed five concerts during his Bad World Tour here between September and October 1987, attracting a total of 240,000 fans. The stadium became one of the few Japanese sports facilities used for major international music events.
