Museum of Yokohama Urban History, History museum in Nihon Odori, Japan
The Museum of Yokohama Urban History displays artifacts, documents, and models illustrating the development of Yokohama from a fishing village into a major port.
Opening in 2003, the museum contains exhibits dating back 30,000 years, including historical items and architectural elements from different periods of Yokohama's evolution.
The permanent exhibition room contains six chronological sections presenting the social transformations and daily life changes throughout Yokohama's maritime history.
Located near Kannai Station and Nihon-Odori Station, the museum welcomes visitors from Tuesday to Sunday between 9:30 AM and 5:00 PM with entry fees of 200 yen.
The museum features reconstructed Meiji-era brick sewer manholes and maintains a research area dedicated to urban development studies.
