NYK Maritime Museum, Maritime museum in Kaigandōri, Japan.
The NYK Maritime Museum occupies the first floor of a historical building, displaying an extensive collection of ship models and navigational instruments from different eras.
The museum, which officially opened on December 4, 1993, chronicles the evolution of Japanese maritime industry through the history of Nippon Yusen Kaisha company.
The permanent exhibition features detailed builder's models of ships, vintage cruise ship brochures, postcards, and navigation equipment that illustrate Japanese maritime development.
Located two minutes from Bashamichi Station, the museum operates Tuesday through Sunday from 11:00 to 17:00, with admission fees of 400 yen for adults.
The museum will remain closed from April 2023 until October 2026 for extensive renovations and preparation of new exhibitions.
