Sakuragawa, City in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan
Sakuragawa spans 180 square kilometers across Ibaraki Prefecture, featuring mountains along its eastern border and the Sakuragawa River flowing through its territory.
The city formed on October 1, 2005, through the consolidation of Iwase town, Makabe town, and Yamato village into a single administrative entity.
The Makabe district preserves 400-year-old urban planning with traditional buildings and hosts an annual Hina Doll Festival from February 4th to March 3rd.
Visitors can reach Sakuragawa by taking an express bus from Narita or Haneda Airport to Tsukuba Center, followed by local transportation to the city center.
The Amabikisan Rakuho Temple, established in the 6th century, maintains grounds where peacocks roam freely among ancient religious structures.
