Yokoshibahikari

Yokoshibahikari, Administrative town in Sanbu District, Japan.

Yokoshibahikari is an administrative town in northeastern Chiba Prefecture offering a mix of residential neighborhoods, farmland, and some industrial zones. The area spreads across gentle terrain with scattered settlements connected by local roads.

Two small towns, Yokoshiba and Hikari, merged in 2006 to form a single administrative entity, combining their long histories into one. This consolidation was part of a larger trend in Japan to streamline local government.

The town contains ancient burial mounds dating back over 1000 years, revealing how early inhabitants honored their dead and lived in this region. These structures scattered throughout the area tell the story of long human settlement here.

The town is served by Yokoshiba Station on the JR East line, providing regional rail connections, while the Ken-O Expressway offers road access. The gently rolling terrain makes exploring the area relatively straightforward for most visitors.

An industrial park was established in the northern section in 1991, taking advantage of proximity to Narita International Airport for commerce and logistics. This economic focus makes the area a quietly important hub for the region, despite its low visibility to tourists.
