Akumi district, Administrative district in Yamagata Prefecture, Japan
Akumi district spans over 208 square kilometers across the northern region of Yamagata Prefecture, bordering the cities of Sakata and Nikaho.
The district emerged in 1878 during the Meiji restoration period, transitioning from the former Yuza District of the Edo period to its current administrative structure.
The district maintains the rural traditions of Yamagata Prefecture through local festivals and community gatherings in its constituent town of Yuza.
Located at 39 degrees north latitude and 139 degrees east longitude, Akumi district serves as a geographical identifier for postal addresses in Japan.
The district's territory underwent substantial changes when multiple towns merged into Sakata city in 2005, leaving Yuza as its sole administrative entity.
