Koyasan University is a Buddhist institution located on Mount Kōya in Wakayama Prefecture, dedicated to religious studies and Shingon Buddhist philosophy. The campus includes teaching and research facilities, alongside a satellite program in Osaka designed for adult learners.
The school was established in 1886 as a training center for Shingon monks and gained its official university status in 1926. This founding reflects the continuation of a long monastic teaching tradition on Mount Kōya.
