Shōnandai Station, Interchange railway station in Shōnandai district, Fujisawa, Japan
Shōnandai Station is a railway hub in the Shōnandai district of Fujisawa, Japan. The complex combines above-ground tracks with underground subway platforms.
Operations began on November 7, 1966, as an above-ground facility. The infrastructure expanded in 1999 with new underground sections for two additional lines.
The platforms split between above-ground sections for regional trains and lower levels for the subway. Commuters switch between lines through a shared distribution floor below the surface.
The three lines are operated by different railway companies, so travelers should pay attention when choosing tickets. Transfer routes pass through the underground area, where signs are posted in several languages.
The facility ends with a buffer stop for trains that terminate here. Because of this design, some trains reverse out of the complex before continuing their journey.
