Taishō Station, Railway station in Minato-ku, Osaka, Japan.
Taishō Station is an interchange station in Minato-ku, Osaka, with two separate rail systems on different levels. The JR West Osaka Loop Line uses elevated platforms, while the Nagahori Tsurumi-ryokuchi subway line runs underground.
The station began operations in 1961 on the JR West Osaka Loop Line. The addition of the subway connection came later in 1997, creating the interchange function it serves today.
The station's name references the Taishō period, a time of industrial transformation in Osaka. Today it reflects how different transport systems coexist in the same space, serving the everyday movement of residents and visitors.
The station has separate ticket counters for JR West and Osaka Metro with machines and service desks on different floors. Visitors should allow extra time for navigation between the systems since they occupy different levels.
The station features four parallel tracks with two elevated side platforms for JR trains and one underground island platform below. This arrangement allows smooth transfers despite the spatial separation of the two rail systems.
