Kagoshima district, Administrative district in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan
The Kagoshima district spans across 132.71 square kilometers and includes two villages that were previously part of the Oshima District.
The district underwent significant territorial changes in 1897 when it incorporated the Kitaosumi and Taniyama Districts, expanding its administrative boundaries.
The district maintains traditional Japanese village structures while adapting to modern administrative requirements within the Kagoshima Prefecture system.
The district currently manages a population of 1,145 residents through two administrative village centers that coordinate local services.
This district transformed from a mainland location to consist entirely of former island territories after its mainland section merged into Kagoshima City.
