Mount Kuromi

Mount Kuromi reaches an elevation of 1,831 meters, featuring large granite formations and providing extensive views across the surrounding mountainous landscape of Yakushima.

The mountain became part of Kirishima-Yaku National Park in 1964, contributing to Yakushima's designation as Japan's first natural World Heritage site in 1993.

The ascent starts at Yodogawa Trail Entrance, located 32 kilometers from Miyanoura port, requiring approximately eight hours for a complete round trip.

The summit receives six times more rainfall than Tokyo, creating specific ecological conditions that support rare plant species and moss-covered forest environments.
