Tower of the Sun, Modern art tower in Natural and Cultural Gardens, Suita, Japan

A 70-meter concrete and steel tower with three faces displays a front with two expressions and a third face on its back side.

Built for the 1970 World Exposition, the structure initially stood inside the Festival Plaza building designed by architect Kenzo Tange.

The interior contains the Tree of Life exhibition, an artistic representation showing the evolution of living creatures through multiple art installations.

Visitors can access the permanent exhibition inside the tower, which reopened to the public in March 2018 after extensive renovation work.

The Pokemon character Larvesta draws inspiration from this tower, specifically incorporating the red elements surrounding its head into the design.
