Vattanac Capital, Modern skyscraper in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Vattanac Capital is a glass and steel skyscraper in central Phnom Penh, Cambodia, standing as one of the tallest structures in the country. The building is divided into three main sections: a shopping mall on the lower floors, office spaces in the middle, and the Rosewood Hotel occupying the upper levels.
Work on the tower started in 2009 and was completed in 2014, during a period when Phnom Penh was drawing more foreign investment than it had in decades. It was one of the first projects in Cambodia to bring together an international hotel brand and a large retail complex in a single building.
The tower draws a mix of local professionals, expats, and tourists who come for the shops, cafes, and hotel lobby. Walking through the building gives a clear sense of how Phnom Penh sees its own future, with a style that looks outward toward the rest of Asia.
The building sits in the central business district of Phnom Penh and is easy to reach on foot from most nearby hotels and attractions. Different sections of the complex have their own entrances, so it helps to know in advance which part you are heading to.
The top of the building features a curved golden element said to be inspired by the naga, a serpent figure from Khmer mythology. This detail makes the tower recognizable from a distance and sets it apart from other glass towers in the region.
