South Gyeongsang

South Gyeongsang spans from mountains to coastline, encompassing 18 municipalities including Changwon, Gimhae, and Jinju, with a population of 3.5 million residents.

The province emerged in 1896 after the division of the historical Gyeongsang region, which served as the foundation of the Silla Kingdom in 668 CE.

The Haeinsa Temple, located within South Gyeongsang Province, preserves the Tripitaka Koreana, a collection of Buddhist scriptures carved on wooden blocks.

The province connects to major transportation networks through Gimhae International Airport, the Gyeongbu high-speed railway line, and multiple expressways linking cities.

The Nakdong River delta near Gimhae produces substantial agricultural output, while coastal regions support industrial centers and fishing communities.
