Nowon District

Nowon extends over 35.44 square kilometers and features residential complexes bordered by Suraksan and Bukhansan mountains in the northeast of Seoul

The district emerged in 1988 through separation from Dobong-gu, starting with six administrative neighborhoods before returning Dobong-dong and Chang-dong to Dobong District in 1989.

Educational institutions dominate the district landscape, with multiple universities including Sahmyook University and Seoul National University of Science and Technology shaping its identity.

The district connects to central Seoul through three subway lines - four, six, and seven - plus the Gyeongchun and Gyeongwon railway lines.

Jungnangcheon Stream flows through the western section, providing residents with dedicated paths for running, skating, and cycling activities.
