Bukhansan National Park, National park in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea.

Bukhansan is a mountainous national park in Gyeonggi Province featuring granite peaks and forested terrain across about 80 square kilometers. The landscape offers various hiking trails of different difficulty levels and contains multiple temples along with archaeological remains of ancient fortifications.

The park was designated as a national park in 1983, protecting a landscape with a long history of human habitation. The granite mountains hold Buddhist temples and fortification remains that span hundreds of years, documenting different periods of Korean history.

Several Buddhist temples within the park serve as active places of worship and meditation, where you can observe daily religious practices. These sacred sites are woven into the landscape and show how faith has been lived here for centuries.

The park is easily accessible by bus and subway lines from Seoul, with information centers at multiple entrances offering maps and guidance. The hiking trails are marked, but it is wise to wear sturdy footwear and bring enough water, especially on warmer days.

The park is home to around 1,300 species of plants and animals, including rare golden eagles that nest among the granite cliffs. These birds of prey are difficult to spot, but their presence shows how valuable the park's untouched habitats are.
