Jeongseon County, County in Gangwon State, South Korea
Jeongseon County is a county in Gangwon with mountains, valleys, and numerous mineral springs throughout its landscape. The terrain is characterized by forested hills and natural springs scattered across the region.
The area was renamed from Ingpyae-hyeon to Jeongseon-hyeon in 757 under the Silla Dynasty and took its current form. Later, during the Goryeo Dynasty around 1012, it was established as a county and maintained this structure.
The Jeongseon Arirang folk song lives on in local celebrations and performances, reflecting how music has shaped community identity in this mountainous region. You can hear these melodies during gatherings, showing how the past remains woven into daily life.
High 1 Resort offers winter sports activities from November through March and sits at the highest elevation among South Korean ski facilities. Plan your visit during the winter months when snow is most likely and conditions are best for skiing.
The Jeongseon Rail Bike is a track where visitors ride specialized bicycles through old mountain passages and former mining territories. This route spans around seven kilometers, traveling from Gujeol-ri Station to Auraji Station.
