Guinsa, Buddhist temple complex in North Chungcheong Province, South Korea.
Guinsa is the headquarters of the Cheontae Buddhist order situated on multiple levels across the Sobaek Mountains. The complex includes numerous religious halls, meditation areas, and residential buildings arranged throughout the mountainous terrain.
The temple was founded in 1945 and rebuilt following the Korean War. Its prominence grew after becoming the official headquarters of the Cheontae school in 1967.
The temple complex maintains traditional Buddhist practices through daily ceremonies, meditation sessions, and educational programs at its affiliated Geumgang University.
The site offers free vegetarian meals to all visitors during designated dining times. The kitchen facilities are well-equipped and can accommodate many guests at once, making dining convenient for those who visit.
The complex operates a large agricultural area to produce food for its monks and visitors. This type of self-sufficient farming reflects the traditional way of life at many religious communities in the region.
