Incheon Asiad Main Stadium, Athletic stadium in Incheon, South Korea.
Incheon Asiad Main Stadium is an athletic venue featuring an oval running track that surrounds a soccer field at its center. The facility accommodates tens of thousands of spectators and includes modern amenities designed to host large-scale sporting events.
The facility was completed in 2014 and hosted the opening and closing ceremonies for both the Asian Games and Asian Para Games that year. Its construction represented a major infrastructure investment specifically developed to support these major regional competitions.
The curved roof design draws inspiration from Buddhist dance movements and reflects traditional Korean architectural principles. This blend of modern sports function and cultural symbolism remains visible in the building's overall form today.
The stadium is easily accessible near Geomam Station on the Airport Railroad Line and by local bus routes. Visitors should note that different entrances provide access to different areas of the complex.
After the games concluded, roughly half of the original seating was removed from the stadium to create a more sustainable size for ongoing regional events. This transformation shows how temporary structures built for major competitions can be adapted for long-term use.
