Danyang Dodamsambong

Danyang Dodamsambong consists of three limestone peaks that rise steeply from the Namhan River and form a distinctive rocky formation. The surrounding river landscape and forested areas create the character of this renowned natural site.

The site received official recognition as a cultural property in September 2008 and is counted among Danyang's eight celebrated natural landscapes. This designation reflects the long-standing importance of this formation in the region's heritage.

The three peaks have inspired artists and scholars for centuries, who captured their forms in paintings and poems throughout history. This place remains a source of creative inspiration and holds special meaning in Korean artistic traditions.

The site is accessible by public bus from Danyang, with boat tours available to view the formations from the river. Visiting during warmer months allows you to fully enjoy both land and water-based perspectives of the site.

The middle peak, Janggunbong, rises higher than its neighboring formations and creates an unbalanced, asymmetrical composition. At the base of the peaks, the river forms a deep, still pond called Dodam that contrasts with the flowing water upstream.
