Chundzha, village in Almaty Region, Kazakhstan
Chundzha is a small settlement in Uygur District characterized by flat terrain and simple buildings scattered across open spaces. The area is famous for around 140 large mineral hot springs with temperatures ranging from 37 to 50 degrees Celsius, containing minerals such as silica, calcium, sodium, iodine, and bromine.
The settlement has a long history as a place sought out for healing, based on beliefs about the therapeutic properties of the thermal waters. Over time, the mineral springs were scientifically studied, confirming their beneficial mineral composition and establishing the location as a wellness destination.
The settlement is easily accessible by car and offers simple to comfortable accommodations with access to pools and meals. The flat terrain makes walking and outdoor activities practical, and visits are most pleasant outside the hottest summer months.
Many of the hot springs are uncovered, creating a special experience in cold weather when soaking in warm water under open sky. This combination of natural thermal bathing and open-air exposure offers an unusual wellness experience.
