Gedenktafel an die Bezwingung des Khanats der Dsungaren, Stone stele commemorating military victory in Mongolküre, China

This commemorative stone stands in the Gedeng Shan mountains in Xinjiang and bears inscriptions in multiple languages. The carved text documents a major military conquest and the relationships between different peoples during that era.

The Qianlong Emperor ordered this stone erected in 1761 to mark a major military victory that had occurred five years earlier. The monument records an important moment when Qing control expanded over a key region in Central Asia.

The inscriptions show how different ethnic groups lived and interacted together during the Qing period. They reveal the complex relationships between Han Chinese settlers and the various peoples of Xinjiang at that time.

The stele is located in a mountainous area in southwestern Mongolküre County within Xinjiang. The setting is remote, so wearing sturdy shoes and bringing water is advisable for those planning to visit.

The stone bears inscriptions in multiple languages, reflecting the multilingual nature of the region during the Qing period. These carved texts make it a rare example of how different peoples communicated and were addressed together.
