Alakol District

Alakol District is an administrative region in eastern Kazakhstan's Zhetisu Region. The area spans steppes and lowlands dotted with several lakes that shape the local landscape and water systems.

The district was established in 1928 during the Soviet era. It experienced several administrative reorganizations over the decades before becoming part of the current Zhetisu Region.

The district administration operates from Usharal, coordinating activities for a population of approximately 70,000 residents across various settlements.

The district can be accessed by road through connections to nearby cities and towns. Travel is easier during warmer months when road conditions are more stable.

The Tentek River flows seasonally through the district, with water levels changing throughout the year. These natural fluctuations have shaped how local communities manage water resources and plan agricultural activities.
