Sighnaq, capital of the Blue/White Horde, the Uzbek Khanate and the Kazakh Khanate

Sighnaq is a lost city in Zhanakorgan District built from mud brick and stone that now stands in ruins. The site displays the outlines of former buildings and defensive walls scattered across an extensive area.

Sighnaq was a significant settlement along ancient trade routes that was later abandoned for reasons still unclear. The city formed part of the nomadic and settled cultures that shaped this region over centuries.

The site is remote and requires advance planning to reach. Visitors should bring water, sun protection, and sturdy shoes as the terrain is rough and uneven.
