The Russian Drama Theatre features a grand columned facade and presents theatrical productions in Russian language throughout the performance season.
Established in 1929, the theatre moved to its current building in 1967, welcoming graduates from Moscow and Leningrad theatrical institutions to its permanent troupe.
The theatre stages both classical Russian literature adaptations and contemporary works, including performances of Dostoevsky's The Idiot and Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
The theatre building stands in Al-Farabi square, offering 26 different performances for adults and 20 productions specifically created for young audiences.
During World War II, the theatre integrated numerous evacuated artists from Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus, leading to its official recognition as Regional Russian Drama Theatre.
