Jounieh

Jounieh is a Mediterranean port city in Keserwan District that stretches along the shoreline and is surrounded by mountains. The city features a natural bay and is shaped by a waterfront with promenades and green spaces.

After the Lebanese civil war in the 1970s, this place grew from a small fishing village into a major commercial and banking center. The transformation made it an economic hub along the Lebanese coast.

The International Festival here brings together musicians and performers each summer, showcasing Lebanese and international talents. The city has become a place where visitors experience local and international artistic expressions.

Visitors can reach this coastal city from Beirut in about 30 minutes by regular bus or taxi along the highway. Morning or early afternoon is best for exploring, when traffic is lighter and the light is pleasant for walking.

A cable car system connects the bay to Mount Harissa above, providing views over the Mediterranean and surrounding slopes. The experience is especially memorable at sunset, when the colors of water and sky shift.
