Zaarour, Ski resort in Matn District, Lebanon
Zaarour is a ski resort on Mount Sannine's eastern slopes with 16 kilometers of runs across different difficulty levels. The terrain spans from 1,645 to 2,000 meters in elevation, accommodating skiers of varying abilities and experience.
The resort developed in response to demand for winter sports in the region and was built to take advantage of Mount Sannine's natural conditions. Over time, it has expanded and adapted to attract visitors across all seasons.
The name comes from an Arabic word for hawthorn, reflecting the local plant life that shaped the area's identity. Visitors can sense this connection to nature through the way the landscape is used and experienced throughout the seasons.
The resort offers year-round activities like skiing in winter and hiking, swimming, or zip-lining in summer, with equipment rentals on site. Access is straightforward, and facilities are designed to accommodate different visitor interests and activity levels.
On clear days, visitors can see all the way to the Bekaa Valley from here, offering an unexpected geographical perspective few anticipate when arriving. This view makes the place engaging beyond winter sports, rewarding those who take time to look around.
