Obod

Obod is a stone fortress built on a hilltop with defensive walls and towers overlooking the river valley below. The complex spreads across the slope with multiple structures positioned at different elevations to command the landscape.

A local ruler moved his capital to this location in the late 15th century to defend against military threats from the south. The fortress became a center of regional authority and soon housed important craft and cultural activities.

The fortress once housed a printing workshop where religious texts were produced and distributed across the region. This facility attracted craftspeople and scholars who shaped the intellectual life of the era.

The site sits on a hillside and can be reached by road from nearby settlements, so allow plenty of time for the visit. The surrounding area offers basic accommodation and supplies in local villages within easy reach.

The site contained medieval workshops where weapons were forged and early medical treatments were offered. These specialized facilities were unusual for the region and show how advanced the craft production was here.
