People's Square and Park

People's Square and Park extends across 135 acres near the Shwedagon Pagoda, featuring gardens, walking paths, and marble esplanades for recreational activities.

The land transformed from Queen Shin Sawbu's palace grounds into a golf course during colonial times before becoming a public park with the former Parliament complex.

The Pyidaungsu Ayeyeik Nyein building contains exhibitions of Myanmar's ethnic groups, displaying traditional crafts, timber samples, and precious stones.

The park maintains a collection of 17,000 flowering plants, including 52 tree species, 12 bamboo varieties, and 50 types of shrubs across its grounds.

A botanical maze winds through the park's landscape, surrounded by medicinal herbs, fruit trees, and thousands of indigenous plant species.
