Bogyoke Aung San Museum

The Bogyoke Aung San Museum occupies a 1921 colonial building and displays personal items, photographs, uniforms, and documents across two floors. The rooms are arranged to reflect different aspects of the general's life and role in Myanmar's history.

This house was General Aung San's final residence before his assassination in 1947, marking a turning point in Myanmar's struggle for independence. The villa was later converted into a museum to preserve his legacy.

The displays show personal rooms and belongings that reveal how Aung San shaped Myanmar's path to independence. Visitors experience the atmosphere of a private home where political and family life intertwined.

The museum is located near the city center and is easy to reach on foot or by taxi. The two floors are connected by stairs, so visitors with mobility concerns should plan accordingly.

The museum grounds feature a bronze statue of the general enjoying gardening, showing him in his private moments. The same garden contains the original swimming pool, a place of personal tragedy for his family.
