Azure Window, Natural arch in Malta

The Azure Window was a 28-metre-tall limestone natural arch, located in Dwejra Bay on the island of Gozo in Malta.

The Azure Window was created when two limestone sea caves collapsed, and it stood for hundreds of years before its collapse in 2017.

The Azure Window was featured in various international films and media, including the 'Game of Thrones' series.

Despite its collapse, the site remains a popular diving spot due to its rich marine life.

The Azure Window is also known as the Dwejra Window, named after the bay where it was located.

Natural stone arches and rock holes

Natural geological formations featuring openings, arches, and caves across the globe. The collection includes limestone arches like Durdle Door in England, sandstone gates like Pravčicka brána in the Czech Republic, and coastal formations like the Faraglioni Rocks in Italy. These structures formed through erosion by water, wind, and other natural processes. Some formations serve as local landmarks, such as Window Rock in Arizona and the Eyes of God in Bulgaria. The sites range from accessible coastal locations to remote desert areas like the Aloba Arch in Chad.

Vanished architectural structures of the world

This collection documents major buildings that have disappeared throughout history. It includes religious structures such as the 15th-century Porcelain Tower of Nanjing, whose glazed bricks gleamed in sunlight, as well as destroyed palaces, theaters, and public buildings from various periods and continents. The reasons for the disappearance of these structures range from warfare to natural disasters to deliberate demolition for urban redevelopment. The Palais du Trocadéro in Paris, for example, was demolished in 1937 to make way for the current Palais de Chaillot. This compilation provides insight into lost architectural achievements and the historical circumstances of their disappearance.

Malta guide from ancient temples to coastal cliffs
